So gather your mum and baby friends and book a group print session this Christmas. It’s a wonderful way to capture your little ones' early years while enjoying some creative time with other mums. Booking is essential to secure your session. At your baby/toddler group or nursery Did you know we can visit your group or nursery and do hand and footprints on pottery. We just arranage a date, provide you with marketing materials so people can order ahead and we bring the pieces ordered on the day arrranged to take the prints and bring them back to the studio to decorate and put through the kiln. Teamwork is dream work after all! We can't afford to pay top dollar as we are a small independent studio, however, we want our staff to be motivated by loving what they do rather than money. Our employees gain great job satisfaction and feel valued and enjoy the responsibility they are given. They love the fact the job is so varied so they never get bored of doing the same thing. The problem though is they love it so much that full-time positions do not come up very often. When they do we look for people who are looking to be with us long term as, although not difficult, the job can take a long time to learn. However, our junior weekend and casual staff vacancies tend to come up more often as our staff leave school and move away for University. These are quicker roles to pick up as they are not as involved. How Crafty Monkey Pottery Studio in Cambridgeshire Was Born Chrissy Bennett Owner of Crafty Monkey From Idea to Kiln: The Journey of Crafty Monkey Pottery Painting & Craft Studio Established 2010 At the time, Chrissy worked as a buyer for a gift experience company, spending her days testing out everything from Ferrari driving and hot air balloon rides to spa days and photoshoots. Tough job, right? But someone had to do it! Always on the lookout for exciting new experiences, Chrissy discovered paint-your-own pottery at a ceramics café during a friend’s hen do—and she was instantly hooked! She loved how it was an experience that everyone, regardless of age or ability, could enjoy.While chatting with the café owner about what a fantastic business it must be to run, the owner simply said, “You should start one yourself.” And with that, the lightbulb went off! Six months later, after plenty of planning, Crafty Monkey in St. Neots flung open its doors just in time for the summer holidays of 2010.Since then, Crafty Monkey has thrived thanks to the support of the St. Neots local community and our amazing customers. The business has grown into a team of 7, with Chrissy now working behind the scenes while the team concentrate on the day to day running of the studio and take Crafty Monkey on the road, hosting pottery painting and build a bear at various venues. Though we’re a business, we feel rooted in the community. We’ve partnered with local schools, playgroups, nurseries, and have contributed to community projects like a tile mural in the library. Our collaboration with Black Cat Radio led to a fun mug-painting contest too! Many of our regular customers have become friends, and it’s been a joy watching children grow - from capturing their baby handprints to seeing them join us for work experience or even Saturday jobs. It’s been an incredible journey, and we can’t wait to see where the next chapter takes us!

To ensure your beautiful piece remains in optimum condition, please follow the care instructions below. By following these guidelines, you can keep your hand-painted ceramics looking beautiful and vibrant for years to come. If you have further questions about caring for your pottery, feel free to contact us. General Care Handle with Care: Treat your ceramic piece gently to avoid chips or cracks. Avoid dropping or banging it against hard surfaces. Temperature Changes: Avoid exposing your pottery to sudden temperature changes as this can cause thermal shock crazing and cracking. How Do I Clean My Pottery? Hand Washing: For best results, always hand wash your ceramic items and don't submerge your piece into water for a long period of time. Use warm water and mild dish soap with a soft sponge or cloth. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft towel. Avoid Abrasives: Do not use abrasive scrubbers or harsh cleaning agents as they can damage the painted surface. Dishwasher: While putting it in the dishwasher now and again won't necessarily damage it, over time it will wear a lot quicker and we recommend hand washing to preserve the hand-painted design and ensure the longevity of your pottery. Using Your Hand-Painted Pottery Can I use my pottery in the microwave? We don't recommend putting your pottery in the microwave. Is it safe to put my pottery in the oven? Hand-painted ceramics should not be used in the oven. Is it OK to put my pottery in the freezer? Do not place your ceramic items directly in the freezer, as extreme cold can cause cracking. If you need to chill a piece, allow it to reach room temperature before refrigerating. Displaying Your Ceramics Sunlight Exposure: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause colors to fade. Display your ceramics away from strong sunlight to maintain their vibrant appearance. Surface Protection: Use felt pads or coasters under your pottery to prevent scratches on your furniture.
