Timing: Try to time your visit between naps or right after a feed. A "full and happy" baby makes for the best handprints! The "Clench" Factor: If your baby is under 6 months, their hands are naturally "fisty." Don't stress - we can usually get a handprint, but for newborns we recommend footprints. Relax: We’ve seen it all - crying, wriggling, and "nappy accidents." We’re a family and breast feeding friendly studio; just bring the baby, and we’ll handle the rest. Yes, we offer different sessions to accommodate more than one mum and baby. If you book a our session for 6 or more mums and babies to do prints you will all get free studio fees. Why do you limit availability for print sessions at weekends and in holidays? To ensure we can get the best baby print as possible, these sessions require a little extra time, a calm environment, and a specially trained member of our team. Because our studio is often bustling with painters during weekends and school holidays, we schedule print sessions during quieter mid-week times. This allows us to give you and your baby our full, undivided attention without the rush. We do however offer a couple of sessions on a weekend as we understand sometimes you would like to add other children's prints too who are at school mid-week. Please be aware these sessions may not be as relaxed as during the week. Can you do the writing and designs for me? We certainly can! Many parents get us to decorate and add the "Crafty Monkey Touch." You choose the colors and the character (like a penguin, elephant, or reindeer), and our artists can add the names, dates, and extra details for you for a personalisation fee. Is there a studio fee for babies? At Crafty Monkey, we have a standard studio fee of £4.50 per painter plus the cost of the pottery item you choose. This covers the use of underglaze paints, clear glazing and firing. For baby print sessions, if you have more than one baby or child doing prints we just charge one studio fee for the print session. This includes you decorating the piece. If combining the print session with a pottery painting session, each painter will be charged a studio fee. Prints are included in the studio fee. To make sure you can plan your visit with ease, see our current opening times and special opening hours. Booking Your Visit We’re a busy little studio, so we recommend booking ahead to secure your spot – especially at weekends and during holidays. We also occasionally close the studio for off-site events, group bookings or private parties. Crafty Monkey Pottery Studio's opening hours can vary, especially during school holidays and around Christmas. For the most up-to-date information on opening hours, please visit our opening hours page or head to our booking page to book a session which will show you our availability. Do I need to book in advance? Yes, we ask you book online in advance as we can get fully booked and we only offer some sessions at certain days or times of the day. You can however reschedule most sessions and you can book last minute just before you come. It's also important you book the right appointment for what you want to do. See our online booking system. Can I bring food and drink into Crafty Monkey? We do not allow you to bring and consume your own food and drink on our premises—except for alcoholic drinks on our Sip and Paint Pottery Nights, Event Nights, Hen Party, and Adult Party bookings. Residue from food on your hands can cause issues with your pottery item. It can leave dark patches on the surface once the pottery has been fired, and can also act as a resistance to the glaze, leaving patches unglazed. You can also bring a birthday cake if you have booked a Kids Party with us to sing 'Happy Birthday' and blow out candles but this can't be eaten in the studio. 🎨Will I get to use underglazes on my piece?
