  • 👣Personalised Handprint & Footprint Baby Keepsakes | Crafty Monkey

Make personalised baby keepsakes at Crafty Monkey Pottery Studio. Handprint & Footprints on Ceramics, Clay Impressions, Outprints, 3D Baby Casts and Silver Jewellery. Baby Hand & Footprint Personalised Keepsakes Capture your little one's earliest moments with our beautiful hand and footprint memory keepsakes! We offer a range of keepsakes to preserve those tiny hands and feet, including: Handprints and Footprints on Pottery 3D Baby Castings Clay Impressions (imprints) Plaster Outprints Or looking for a gift, see our pottery painting and personalisation service where we can paint a bespoke customised piece of pottery or purchase an e-gift card or gift voucher. What Keepsakes Can I Make With Baby Hands & Feet? Crafty Monkey offer four styles of baby hand and foot keepsakes, each unique and handcrafted. Prints on Pottery Our most popular option! We carefully apply non-toxic, skin-safe paint to your baby's hand or foot and press it onto a piece of pottery of your choice - mugs, plates, plaques & even baubles. The Process: We do the prints for you, and can add lettering and decoration or you can. Best for: Keepsakes and affordable gifts. Prints on Pottery 3D Baby Casts For a truly high-definition memory, our 3D casts capture every tiny wrinkle and fingernail. These are standalone sculptures that can be framed or displayed on a plinth. The Process: A quick, safe molding process that captures a perfect 3D replica. Best for: A premium, "wow-factor" nursery centerpiece. Baby Casts Imprints in Clay Capture a clay impression of your baby's hands or feet. Baby imprints give a "pressed-in" look and are achieved by gently pressing your baby’s hands or feet into soft clay to create the recessed impression. The Process: Once dry, they're fired in our kiln and painted to highlight the print. Best for: Rustic, timeless wall hangings. Baby Imprints Plaster Outprints Show off every delicate detail of your child’s hands or feet with outprints. They're the opposite of clay impressions and the hand or foot "raised" from the surface of the plaster. The Process: We take a clay mold and use it to create a raised plaster finish. Once dry and we decorate in your choice of colour. Best for : Sophisticated framed displays. Baby Outprint Personalised Gifts If you want something customised, our in-house artists can hand paint ceramic keepsakes. You can share a design you would like or choose from one of ours. The Process : See our online shop to see how to order a bespoke piece. Best for: New baby and Christening gifts. Personalised Ceramic Gifts Gift Cards & Vouchers Our gift cards or gift vouchers can be used for all our baby keepsake services we offer. They allow new mums to choose. P opular for Christening or new baby gifts. The Process: Order online. Our e-gift cards can be emailed on a date of your choice. Best for: Collective office or baby shower gift. Buy a Gift Card Book a Session Prepare for Your Baby Print Session Crafty Monkey's Top Tips We want your session at Crafty Monkey to be as relaxed and enjoyable as possible. To help us capture those perfect tiny details, here are a few handy tips to help you prepare for your visit with your baby to our studio: A Note for Parents : Our studio is a breastfeeding-friendly space, and we have room for buggies. If your little one is having a "fussy" day, don't worry - we’ll take our time and work at their pace. Timing is Everything Try to schedule your appointment around your baby’s nap and feed times. A well-fed, baby who's just had a nap or is sleepy is usually the most relaxed, which makes it much easier to get a clear print. If they happen to fall asleep in the car on the way here - don't wake them. If doing footprints on pottery we can usually get them while they snooze. For other services, you can choose your colours and personalisations while they sleep. Dress for Success While the clay and paint we use are non-toxic and wash off easily, we recommend dressing your little one in something that provides easy access to their hands and feet. Avoid : Tight leggings, complicated button-up dungarees, or delicate "best" outfits. Ideal : A simple baby grow or a short-sleeved vest works best.. The "Wiggle" Factor Don’t worry if your newborn or toddler are a "wiggler". Our team is experienced (we’ve seen it all!) and we have tricks. We work quickly and gently so it's as stress-free as possible. Think About Your Customisation Before you visit us, have a quick think about: Colours : Have a think about colours you like Designs : If doing prints, do you want plain or designs? Wording : If making gifts, what writing would you like. Check spellings of names and dates you’d like us to include. Pottery : If prints, view our pottery range online for ideas Frame : For imprints & outprints, do you want a black, white or wood coloured deep-box frame? Warm Hands and Feet If it’s a chilly day, and opting for imprints or outprints, try to keep your baby's hands and feet tucked away and warm until we start. Warm skin is generally more subtle and softer and better for getting a detailed impression in the clay than cold, stiff fingers! Bring a Spare Outfit While it's relatively mess-free. It’s always a good idea to have a spare outfit and some extra wipes in your changing bag if going somewhere else after, Just in case! Book a Session Do You Cater for Mum & Baby Groups in Your Studio? We certainly do! We get lots of groups of mum's with their babies in our St Neots based pottery studio. Usually people who have met at an NCT group. Our group sessions for mums and their little one's are a fun way to create personalised hand and footprint ceramic keepsakes while catching up with friends in a baby-friendly environment. Creating baby hand and foot casts at Crafty Monkey is a simple and safe process. We handle the entire casting process for you. During your appointment, we gently create the mould of your baby’s hands and feet, ensuring a perfect replica. Step 1: Book a 3D baby cast session at our studio. Step 2: At your session, our skilled team will mix the moulding material and guide you through the process. Step 3: We will gently place your little one's hand or foot into the mould until it sets (usually a few minutes). Once set we carefully remove your baby’s hand or foot from the mould. Step 4: After you have left, we pour the casting material into the mould to create the final cast. Step 5: Once the cast has hardened, we remove it from the mould and leave it to completely dry out. Step 6: Once dry we spend time sanding areas and making little repairs if needed before applying a sealant. Once dry we decorate it as desired. Step 7: The final step is framing or mounting the casts onto a display plinth and fixing the plaque in place. Step 8: Once ready we email you and ask you to book a pick up slot! What Is the Best Material for Baby Hand and Foot Castings? At Crafty Monkey, we use only the safest and highest quality materials: Alginate: A natural, hypoallergenic product derived from seaweed, ideal for creating detailed moulds. Plaster: We use high-quality stone plaster for the final cast to ensure durability and fine detail. How Much Do Baby Hand and Foot Castings Cost? Our pricing is competitive and transparent: Baby: up to 12 months Toddler: 12 to 24 months Pre-schooler: 25 - 48 months Child: 49 months - 12 years Adult: 13 years up All the above come with a plaque. We can also do adults hand with or without baby. Enquire for different options. What is the minimum age to get hand and foot casts? There is no minimum age and we can do from age 0, however, we would recommend waiting a few weeks after baby is born. Is the Casting Process Safe for Newborns? Yes, the casting process is completely safe and comfortable for newborns. We use high-quality, hypoallergenic materials that are safe for your baby’s delicate skin, ensuring a durable and detailed cast. The process requires us to hold your baby's hand/foot in a material called alginate which starts off as a liquid and sets within a couple of minutes to a rubber-like consistency. The set alginate is soft so baby's hand/foot can be gently removed. How Long Does It Take to Make Baby Hand and Foot Casts? The casting process itself takes just a few minutes. The creation and finishing of the casts takes a few weeks, after which your keepsake will be ready for pickup. Creating the mould at your session is a quick and simple process: Creating the Mould: Takes a few minutes (2-5 minutes) for each hand or foot. Curing Time: The mould usually sets quickly, within minutes. Deciding on options: You then choose what finish you would like along with frame or plinth colour and what you would like on the plaque. After your session: Final Cast Preparation: Pouring and hardening the final cast material can take several hours to a day. Drying Time: We like to leave the casts to dry for around 10-14 days for baby casts, longer for larger casts. This insures they are properly dry before they are sealed and later decorated and then mounted on a plinth or in a frame. Total Time: From start to finish, the entire process can take 3 -5 weeks, including drying and finishing time. Can I Personalise My Baby’s Hand and Foot Castings? Absolutely! Personalisation options include: Engravings: Add your little one's name, birthdate, or how old they are. Finishes: Choose from different finishes such as bronze, silver, gold, baby pink, baby blue or pearl. Solid Colour or over black: We can either paint a solid colour or a black base coat and use coloured waxes on top of the black which emphasise all the tiny detail. Mounting: You can choose to display the casts on customized display plinths or in decorative deep box frames. There is a choice of colours. What Finishes Are Available for Baby Hand and Foot Casts? We offer several finishing options to suit your style. The below are the popular colours and finishes: Bronze Finish: Adds a timeless, elegant touch Copper Finish: Ancient copper associated with Venus Silver Finish: Sleek and modern Gold or Antique Finish: Luxurious and eye-catching Pearl Finish: The classic look of pure white plaster Baby Blue Pearlescent Finish: Traditional baby blue Baby Pink Pearlescent Finish: Traditional baby pink You can also choose to have: Solid Colour: Custom colors to match your décor or preference Waxes over black: This defines the wrinkles and creases to a greater extent What are some gift ideas involving baby hand and foot casts? • Creative Job Vacancies at Crafty Monkey, St Neots, Cambridgeshire

Looking for creative, customer-focused, jobs based in an art environment in St. Neots, Cambridgeshire. Send us a prospective email with your CV outlining your interest and experience. Job Vacancies Do you want to be a Crafty Monkey? We aim to provide the best service to our customers so we look to employ the best people as Crafty Monkey is only ever as good as our employees! We look for excellence and require our staff to be hard-working, reliable, customer-focused and talented people who love working in a creative and arty environment and can work as a team. Teamwork is dream work after all! We can't afford to pay top dollar as we are a small independent studio, however, we want our staff to be motivated by loving what they do rather than money. Our employees gain great job satisfaction and feel valued and enjoy the responsibility they are given. They love the fact the job is so varied so they never get bored of doing the same thing. The problem though is they love it so much that full-time positions do not come up very often. When they do we look for people who are looking to be with us long term as, although not difficult, the job can take a long time to learn. However, our junior weekend and casual staff vacancies tend to come up more often as our staff leave school and move away for University. These are quicker roles to pick up as they are not as involved. If you are desperate to work in a creative environment, where you will get to use your artistic and crafty talents, and get to use your skills in all aspects of the business from marketing to decorating pottery, to serving customers, to stock control, to getting baby bum and hand prints on pottery and designing and running workshops then please do send us your CV with a covering email stating what hours you are looking for; your current salary/hourly rate or what you are looking for; why you would like to work for us and what skills, attributes, experience you could bring to the role. Also, let us know if you have a driving license and access to a car for our outside bookings (not necessarily essential and will depend on the position). If we have any vacancies available or in the pipeline and think you have what it takes we will be in touch or save your details for when a suitable position comes up so it's worth registering your interest now as we don't always advertise our posts if we have suitable CV's on file.
