Session Info
Your Gateway to Clay Fancy reaping the therapeutic benefits of getting your hands on clay but don’t know where to start? Our hand-building taster session is the ultimate introduction to the world of ceramics. Designed specifically for beginners, this hands-on workshop teaches you the foundational techniques: pinching, coiling, and slab building, that allow you to turn a simple lump of clay into a functional work of art. One Class, Endless Possibilities The beauty of hand-building is its versatility. While everyone starts with the same core techniques, you get to choose the "personality" of your project. Whether you want something quirky, elegant, or empowering, our instructors provide step-by-step guidance to help you achieve your vision. What could you make in this session? • The "Pot Head" Planter: Sculpt a quirky character with a soul of its own. • Animal Planters: Craft a wild home for your plants, from elephants to cats. • Botanical Pots: Use our stamps and cutters for flowers, leaves and textures to create nature-inspired decor. • Mugs or Jugs: Build your new favourite vessel for that morning coffee. • Tealight Lanterns: Pierce and carve clay to create a glowing centrepiece. • The Boob Pot: Celebrate body positivity with a cheeky, hand-sculpted planter. 🖌️ The Crafty Monkey Experience Once your masterpiece is sculpted, you’ll use our vibrant underglaze paints to add colour and personality. Our Studio Elves will carefully dry, glaze, and fire your piece in our kiln, leaving you with a professional, ceramic finish. ✨ What to Expect • Step-by-Step Guidance: We’ll walk you through the "Score and Slip" method and foundational building so your piece stays in one piece! • All Materials Included: Clay, pottery tools, stamps, clay cutters and a rainbow of underglazes. • Small Group Sizes: We keep classes to around 8 people so you get the help you need to succeed. • Chilled Atmosphere: Our St Neots studio is a stress-free zone designed for fun and creativity. The Fine Print • Take Home Your Creation: Please allow 4-5 weeks for your piece to dry and go through the kiln process before collection. We email you once ready • Who’s It For?: Perfect for adults and creative kids aged 8+. Note for Parents: Our studio is an inclusive space. During this session, some participants may be working on body-positive projects, such as "Boob Pots." We leave it to the discretion of parents/guardians to decide if this environment is appropriate for their children.
