Fancy the therapeutic benefits of getting your hands on clay but don't know where to start? Our hand building taster lesson at Crafty Monkey Studio, St Neots is the perfect introduction to the world of ceramics. Designed specifically for beginners, this hands-on class teaches the foundational techniques, pinching, coiling and slab building, that turn a simple lump of clay into a piece you'll actually use. Everyone starts with the same core techniques, but you choose the personality of your project. Our team will guide you step by step to help you get there, whatever you fancy making. What can I make on this pottery class? • A quirky pot head planter • An animal planter, from elephants to cats • A botanical pot or dish using our stamps and cutters • A mug or jug for your morning coffee • A tealight lantern • Our popular boob pot, a cheeky, body positive planter • A plaque to hang in your house or for your front door • A dish for your trinkets What's included in this pottery class? • Clay, pottery tools and stamps • Step by step guidance throughout, including the score and slip method • Use of our underglaze paints to decorate and personalise your piece • Clear glazing and kiln firing of your piece once it's fully dried • Small groups of around 8, so you get the help you need Is this pottery class for adults? Adults and children aged 8 and over may attend. Under 10s need accompanying by a participating adult. If booking for children, please be aware some people in the class may be making boob pots. When will my pottery be ready? Please allow 4 to 5 weeks for your piece to dry and go through the kiln, we'll email you once it's ready to collect. Terms & Cancellation Policy
By proceeding with the booking, it is understood that all parties in the reservation have accepted these terms. Drying and Firing Process: Items need leaving with us to dry before we can fire them. We will email you when your piece is ready for collection. This process typically takes 4-5 weeks. Pottery Making Risks: Due to the nature of hand-building with clay, issues can arise during the making, drying, and firing processes that could affect your piece. By following our guidance, you can greatly minimise these risks. If problems do occur, we will attempt to fix them, but it may not be possible.
