Make a Botanical Pot or Planter

🎍 From Earth to Hearth: Bring the Outdoors In and Craft your own botanical planter.

How to Make a Botanical Pot

Our Botanical Planter or lantern clay project is perfect for nature lovers and plant parents who want a vessel as beautiful as the succulants inside it or to pop a tealight in to bring a warm glow into your home. Move over mass-produced plastic, this session is all about crafting a textured, earthy vessel to display in your home.

You'll be taught the slab-building technique and given step-by-step instructions to build the foundation of your planter. Once your slab of clay has been rolled out, it's time for the botanical magic.

Personalise Your Pot

There's several techniques you can use:

  • Impressions: You can press our botanical stamps or feel free to bring real leaves or flowers, into clay to create impressions

  • Carving Tools: Etch delicate floral patterns into clay

  • Emboss: Cut out shapes using our clay cutters and fix them onto your pot to give a 3D effect

  • Cut Outs: Use our clay cutters to cut out leaves, flowers and other shapes - perfect for the light to shine our if making a lantern.

Paint Your Nature

Once your planter is textured and joined to form a pot, you’ll use our vibrant underglaze paints to highlight your designs. Use earthy greens and browns for a realistic look, or go bold with bright floral pops, the choice is yours!

What You’ll Create

  • A Bespoke Botanical Planter: A fully hand-built ceramic pot, sized perfectly for your favorite succulant or spider plant or to use as a tealight lantern

  • Organic Textures: Learn how to use natural materials or sgraffito tools to create intricate leaf and flower designs.

  • A Functional Home: Create a sturdy, professional-looking vessel designed to last.
