Enhance your home education curriculum with creative pottery painting, making and art workshops in St Neots. Group bookings available for clay building, painting & more. Home Education at Crafty Monkey Creative Learning for Home Ed Kids in St Neots At Crafty Monkey, we believe that Arts and Crafts are vital components in the enrichment of a child’s learning journey. Art isn't just a "hobby"—it’s a powerful tool for development. Whether it’s the tactile experience of clay building or the focus required for pottery painting, creative activities allow a child's imagination to run wild. Our studio provides a safe, inspiring space where Home Educated children can explore endless possibilities, build confidence, and develop a true sense of individuality. There's nothing more rewarding than seeing children's faces light up when they collect their glazed pottery. Our studio is generally quieter midweek in term-time so book your children in for a pottery painting session! Parents can paint too! Book Pottery Painting Why Include Art in Your Home Ed Curriculum? Creative play supports much more than just "pretty pictures." By joining us at the studio, children develop: Critical Thinking: Problem-solving through design and construction. Self-Expression: Finding a unique voice through colour and texture. Confidence: The pride of creating something functional from scratch. Fine Motor Skills : Precision work with brushes and clay tools. Social Connections: An opportunity to meet other home-educated children and forge new friendships in a relaxed environment. Bespoke Workshops for Home Ed Groups If you can get together a group of home-educated children from your local Home Education circle (minimum numbers apply), we can tailor make a workshop specifically for your group. These private workshops allow for a deeper dive into creative techniques, including: Pottery Painting Techniques : Learning about glazing, sponging, and detailing. Clay Building Projects : Hand-building unique structures from raw clay. Decoupage: Exploring the art of decorating surfaces with brightly coloured paper. Build a Bear: Making a teddy bear with our no-sew kits. Discover how Crafty Monkey Pottery Studio in Cambridgeshire was born in 2010 and has grown into a hub for pottery painting, clay classes & creative experiences for all. How Crafty Monkey Pottery Studio in Cambridgeshire Was Born Chrissy Bennett Owner of Crafty Monkey From Idea to Kiln: The Journey of Crafty Monkey Pottery Painting & Craft Studio Established 2010 At the time, Chrissy worked as a buyer for a gift experience company, spending her days testing out everything from Ferrari driving and hot air balloon rides to spa days and photoshoots. Tough job, right? But someone had to do it! Always on the lookout for exciting new experiences, Chrissy discovered paint-your-own pottery at a ceramics café during a friend’s hen do—and she was instantly hooked! She loved how it was an experience that everyone, regardless of age or ability, could enjoy. While chatting with the café owner about what a fantastic business it must be to run, the owner simply said, “You should start one yourself.” And with that, the lightbulb went off! Six months later, after plenty of planning, Crafty Monkey in St. Neots flung open its doors just in time for the summer holidays of 2010.Since then, Crafty Monkey has thrived thanks to the support of the St. Neots local community and our amazing customers. The business has grown into a team of 7, with Chrissy now working behind the scenes while the team concentrate on the day to day running of the studio and take Crafty Monkey on the road, hosting pottery painting and build a bear at various venues. Though we’re a business, we feel rooted in the community. We’ve partnered with local schools, playgroups, nurseries, and have contributed to community projects like a tile mural in the library. Our collaboration with Black Cat Radio led to a fun mug-painting contest too! Many of our regular customers have become friends, and it’s been a joy watching children grow - from capturing their baby handprints to seeing them join us for work experience or even Saturday jobs. It’s been an incredible journey, and we can’t wait to see where the next chapter takes us!
