Crafty Monkey Pottery Studio's opening hours can vary, especially during school holidays and around Christmas. For the most up-to-date information on opening hours, please visit our opening hours page or head to our booking page to book a session which will show you our availability. Do I need to book in advance? Yes, we ask you book online in advance as we can get fully booked and we only offer some sessions at certain days or times of the day. You can however reschedule most sessions and you can book last minute just before you come. It's also important you book the right appointment for what you want to do. See our online booking system. Can I bring food and drink into Crafty Monkey? We do not allow you to bring and consume your own food and drink on our premises—except for alcoholic drinks on our Sip and Paint Pottery Nights, Event Nights, Hen Party, and Adult Party bookings. Residue from food on your hands can cause issues with your pottery item. It can leave dark patches on the surface once the pottery has been fired, and can also act as a resistance to the glaze, leaving patches unglazed. You can also bring a birthday cake if you have booked a Kids Party with us to sing 'Happy Birthday' and blow out candles but this can't be eaten in the studio. 🎨Will I get to use underglazes on my piece? Before You Book Working with clay is wonderfully creative, but it can also be unpredictable during the drying and firing stages. Pieces can sometimes develop issues such as cracks, breakages, warping, or parts becoming detached. Occasionally, items may collapse as they dry or, very rarely, explode in the kiln if air pockets are present. These risks are a normal part of working with clay, and following the instructor’s guidance will greatly reduce the chances of problems occurring. Due of this, we can’t guarantee every piece will survive fully intact. If something does happen to your piece, we do our best to repair it, but are unable to offer compensation unless it's due to an error on our part. Our classes are aimed at Beginners and would also suit people with prior experience. Are your clay workshops for adults? Adults mainly attend our pottery classes, but kids aged 8+ are welcome (under 10s need a participating adult). Do you hold pottery classes for kids? While age 8+ can book onto our pottery classes, we occasionally run children's pottery workshops like Clay Monsters, usually during the school holidays.
