Whether you’re a new parent, grandparent, or just looking for a special gift, our personalised ceramic baby keepaskes are a great way to preserve those tiny toes, or even that adorable little bottom onto pottery.
Our friendly team will get the prints for you onto pottery. We can also decorate and personalise these special baby keepsakes for you or if you want to do the artwork we are happy to assist you with ideas to create your special mementoes and gifts. There is no minimum age or age limit for handprints and footprints and you can even add the whole families prints to pottery including mum and dad!
When booking a session online ensure you leave a good couple of weeks in advance if you want us to decorate your pottery.

New Parent Checklist
First Time at the Studio? Here's some handy info:

Clothing: Dress your little one in something with easy-to-roll sleeves and legs. Our paint is non-toxic and easily washes off clothing, but "comfy-casual" is best!

Timing: Try to time your visit between naps or right after a feed. A "full and happy" baby makes for the best handprints!

The "Clench" Factor: If your baby is under 6 months, their hands are naturally "fisty." Don't stress - we can usually get a handprint, but for newborns we recommend footprints.

Relax: We’ve seen it all - crying, wriggling, and "nappy accidents." We’re a family and breast feeding friendly studio; just bring the baby, and we’ll handle the rest.
Are your pottery handprints & footprints only for babies?
Absolutely not! While capturing those tiny newborn toes is a popular tradition, our prints on pottery sessions are available for all ages. From the delicate feet of a new born to the growing hand of preschoolers and school-aged children, every stage can be preserved on our ceramics.
In fact, many families love creating "Generational Pieces." Depending on the size of the pottery item you choose (such as large platters, plant pots or vases), even adults can add their handprints alongside their baby or children. It’s a beautiful way to document how your family grows together over the years.
Whether it’s a single tile for a nursery or a full family plate, we help you create a timeless keepsake regardless of age.

You're welcome to decorate your own pottery but if art is not your thing, leave it to our resident artists who can add the fine details, lettering and required artwork.
How much is it if you decorate?
It depends on the artwork required. Prices start at £3.50 for simple decoration such as dots and a little bit of text. Get an idea of prices of designs we offer from our Baby Print shop.

Print Sessions at Your Venue
Crafty Monkey provides a mobile service and can bring hand and foot print baby sessions to your baby or toddler group, child's nursery or even local cafe's and other venues local to St Neots. We cover a radius of around 20 miles, depending on the group size.
This service is particularly popular in the lead up to Father's Day and Christmas.

Do I need to book or can I just pop into your studio in St Neots?
While we love spontaneous, we ask you specifically book a Baby Print Session. This ensures we have a dedicated "Monkey" (one of our expert team!) ready to get the prints.
When will my pottery be ready to collect?
Once the prints are done, your piece needs to be glazed and fired in our kiln to 1000°C. This process usually takes about 14 days, but often it can be much sooner if you have decorated the piece yourself. Please note in busy periods like the lead up to Christmas, if we are decorating allow 3 weeks.
Once ready we email you with a link to book a collection slot.
Do I have to do the artwork myself?
It’s up to you! You are welcome to paint the decorations yourself and use our writer pens for any text you wish to add, but if you’re not feeling "artsy," we offer a Personalisation Service. Our in-house artists can add the names, dates, and even turn the prints into cute animals or characters for an additional fee.
What if my baby wiggles or won’t open their hand?
Don't worry! Our experienced team are "baby-wrangling" experts and we have a proven method. Depending on the colour chosen, if a print doesn't come out too well, we can usually sand it off the pottery and try again - it’s all part of the process.
Please keep in mind that because we are working with live 'little artists,' it's not always possible to get the 'perfect' print each time and prints may vary slightly. That said we boast a very high success rate and will always work with your baby to get the best result possible
Top tip: Footprints are much easier than handprints for babies under 6 months due to their clench relex!
Is the paint safe for my baby's delicate skin?
Absolutely. We use professional, water-based, non-toxic underglazes that are specifically designed for pottery. They are lead-free, food-safe (once fired), and gentle on delicate skin. They easily wash off with a baby wipe or water.
