About the Event

During this two hour beginner friendly workshop you’ll learn how to knead, wedge and roll clay as you’ll be making it using the slab method. Before turning it into a tree you get to be creative using stamps and cutters. You will then learn the slip and score technique to join your tree together. You will receive full instruction as well as an explanation of what could go wrong and how to fix it.

This workshop will run over one session and we will clear glaze and fire it but you will have the option to add colour once your piece is dry enough (usually a week later).  If you wish to paint your tree, you can book a pottery painting session at a convenient time for an extra fee of £4.50.

This workshop is intended for adults however suitable for anyone 12 +

What to bring:

Everything you need will be provided on the workshop please feel free to bring your own stamps or items you may want to impress into clay such as coins, leaves, materials etc. Lace works particularly well.

Playing with clay can be messy but it will wash out of clothes but we advise you wear old clothing or bring an apron.

Advisories:

Due to the nature of clay and because this is a hand building class there are problems that can arise during the making, drying and firing process of pottery. However, the pitfalls will be explained you during the workshop and you will be taught how to prevent them from happening. That said, if your if something does happen to your piece we may not always be able to fix it.
