Crafty Monkey Pottery Studio's opening hours can vary, especially during school holidays and around Christmas. For the most up-to-date information on opening hours, please visit our opening hours page or head to our booking page to book a session which will show you our availability. Do I need to book in advance? Yes, we ask you book online in advance as we can get fully booked and we only offer some sessions at certain days or times of the day. You can however reschedule most sessions and you can book last minute just before you come. It's also important you book the right appointment for what you want to do. See our online booking system. Can I bring food and drink into Crafty Monkey? We do not allow you to bring and consume your own food and drink on our premises—except for alcoholic drinks on our Sip and Paint Pottery Nights, Event Nights, Hen Party, and Adult Party bookings. Residue from food on your hands can cause issues with your pottery item. It can leave dark patches on the surface once the pottery has been fired, and can also act as a resistance to the glaze, leaving patches unglazed. You can also bring a birthday cake if you have booked a Kids Party with us to sing 'Happy Birthday' and blow out candles but this can't be eaten in the studio. 🎨Will I get to use underglazes on my piece? How Crafty Monkey Pottery Studio in Cambridgeshire Was Born Chrissy Bennett Owner of Crafty Monkey From Idea to Kiln: The Journey of Crafty Monkey Pottery Painting & Craft Studio Established 2010 At the time, Chrissy worked as a buyer for a gift experience company, spending her days testing out everything from Ferrari driving and hot air balloon rides to spa days and photoshoots. Tough job, right? But someone had to do it! Always on the lookout for exciting new experiences, Chrissy discovered paint-your-own pottery at a ceramics café during a friend’s hen do—and she was instantly hooked! She loved how it was an experience that everyone, regardless of age or ability, could enjoy.While chatting with the café owner about what a fantastic business it must be to run, the owner simply said, “You should start one yourself.” And with that, the lightbulb went off! Six months later, after plenty of planning, Crafty Monkey in St. Neots flung open its doors just in time for the summer holidays of 2010.Since then, Crafty Monkey has thrived thanks to the support of the St. Neots local community and our amazing customers. The business has grown into a team of 7, with Chrissy now working behind the scenes while the team concentrate on the day to day running of the studio and take Crafty Monkey on the road, hosting pottery painting and build a bear at various venues. Though we’re a business, we feel rooted in the community. We’ve partnered with local schools, playgroups, nurseries, and have contributed to community projects like a tile mural in the library. Our collaboration with Black Cat Radio led to a fun mug-painting contest too! Many of our regular customers have become friends, and it’s been a joy watching children grow - from capturing their baby handprints to seeing them join us for work experience or even Saturday jobs. It’s been an incredible journey, and we can’t wait to see where the next chapter takes us!
