If we have already started painting your item we may not be able to change it from your original order. Also note, with our personalised products they are handpainted and we have different artists painting up the pieces so they will always be subject to some variation. 4.3. Subject to Availability: Our stock levels on our website are not linked to our inventory and we run a busy studio where we sell items all the time so all Goods which appear on the Website are subject to availability. 4.4. Placing an Order: To place an order, select the products you wish to purchase and add them to your cart. Proceed to checkout and follow the instructions to complete your purchase. By completing the checkout process, you are making an offer to purchase the goods at the price stated. 4.6. Order Confirmation: Upon placing your order, you will receive an order confirmation email from us. This email does not constitute acceptance of your order. A contract between us is only formed when we dispatch the goods to you. 4.7. Returns and Cancellations 7.1. Right to Cancel: Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving the goods without giving any reason. To help us capture those perfect tiny details, here are a few handy tips to help you prepare for your visit with your baby to our studio: A Note for Parents : Our studio is a breastfeeding-friendly space, and we have room for buggies. If your little one is having a "fussy" day, don't worry - we’ll take our time and work at their pace. Timing is Everything Try to schedule your appointment around your baby’s nap and feed times. A well-fed, baby who's just had a nap or is sleepy is usually the most relaxed, which makes it much easier to get a clear print. If they happen to fall asleep in the car on the way here - don't wake them. If doing footprints on pottery we can usually get them while they snooze. For other services, you can choose your colours and personalisations while they sleep. Dress for Success While the clay and paint we use are non-toxic and wash off easily, we recommend dressing your little one in something that provides easy access to their hands and feet. Avoid : Tight leggings, complicated button-up dungarees, or delicate "best" outfits. Ideal : A simple baby grow or a short-sleeved vest works best.. The "Wiggle" Factor Don’t worry if your newborn or toddler are a "wiggler". Our team is experienced (we’ve seen it all!) and we have tricks. We work quickly and gently so it's as stress-free as possible. Think About Your Customisation Before you visit us, have a quick think about: Colours : Have a think about colours you like Designs : If doing prints, do you want plain or designs? Wording : If making gifts, what writing would you like. Check spellings of names and dates you’d like us to include. Pottery : If prints, view our pottery range online for ideas Frame : For imprints & outprints, do you want a black, white or wood coloured deep-box frame? Warm Hands and Feet If it’s a chilly day, and opting for imprints or outprints, try to keep your baby's hands and feet tucked away and warm until we start. Warm skin is generally more subtle and softer and better for getting a detailed impression in the clay than cold, stiff fingers! Bring a Spare Outfit While it's relatively mess-free. Competitions & Giveaways Crafty Monkey loves getting involved in the local community and giving back to our wonderful customers and one of the ways we like to do this is by running competitions and giveaways! Have a look at some of the competitions we've run or been involved in. Crafty Monkey Past Competitions Current Competitions Black Cat Radio Mug Painting Competition In the early days of, our much loved, St. Neots based Black Cat Radio station (and our radio station of choice played in our studio) we ran a mug painting competition to help spread the word about the radio station. Together with Black Cat Radio presenters, we toured the local schools in St. Neots and took over their assemblies to promote the competition. People of all ages entered and designed mugs for the presenters. The presenter chose the design they like the most and the winner got to come and paint it up on a mug at Crafty Monkey. Once the mug had been fired the winner had a tour of the radio station and presented the mug to the DJ on air! Here's pictures of the winning entrants and a few of the Black Cat Radio presenters! Kings Coronation Art Competition To celebrate the King's Coronation, St Neots Town Council hosted an exciting art competition, offering participants the chance to win a free craft experience at Crafty Monkey! The prize allowed winners to recreate their royal-themed artwork on pottery. The competition was open to children aged 3-16 years, divided into four age categories: 3-5 years, 6-9 years, 10-12 years, and 13-16 years. Entrants were invited to create a Coronation-themed artwork of His Majesty The King using any medium, including drawing, colouring, painting, or crafting. This memorable competition showcased the creativity of young artists and celebrated a historic royal occasion. Free Baby Print Giveaway We ran a free giveaway to win a free baby print on a tile! Tiles are one of the cutest ways to capture your little one's foot or hand prints and make great coasters. We enjoy getting involved and interacting with our online community and run competitions on our Instagram and Facebook often - so make sure you're following us! Eco Plate Painting Competition We ran a 'Save the Planet' Plate Painting Competition for people of all ages to design a plate with an Eco theme. We had over 100 entries and had over 500 people voting online for their favourite design. Winners got to paint up their plates and plant a tree with a local initiative called Grow wild! Queens Platinum Jubilee Art Competition For the Queens Platinum Jubilee we worked with St Neots Town Council to bring together a Jubilee themed competition with great prizes! Winners got to have their work shown in the St Neots Museum and a Craft Experience with us! We had a great time attending Street Food Fest and Picnic in the Park running the competition - we had loads of brilliant entries. Free Local Business Giveaway In an effort to give local small businesses and attractions some extra exposure after the pandemic we teamed up with a few local businesses for a giveaway run on Instagram and Facebook! One lucky winner won all of these prizes. We've got some great attractions and businesses in our little town and it was lovely to be able to highlight them - shop local! Eco Plate Painting Competition 🌍 At Crafty Monkey, caring for our planet is close to our hearts and creativity is one of the best ways to spark conversations about looking after the environment. To help raise awareness of the environmental challenges we all face, we ran a special Eco‑Themed Plate Competition, inviting people of all ages to design a plate inspired by nature, sustainability and protecting our world. The winning designers were invited into the studio to paint their creations, bringing their ideas to life in ceramic form. A Safe, Gentle & Stress-Free Process We use quality non-toxic clay and materials, safe for your baby's delicate skin. We're experienced in capturing the intricate details of baby’s hands and feet. We show attention to detail when personalising and decorating. Clay Imprints Indented & Framed Clay imprints involve creating impression of your baby’s hands and feet, in clay. We gently press your baby’s hand or foot into soft, high-quality clay to create a recessed (indented) impression, capturing the detail. Once fired in our kiln, the ceramic becomes a permanent, rock-hard keepsake. Colour Choice: : Choose from 24 glaze colours and opt to have a sponged border Unframed Option While most people opt for framed, we also offer unframed imprints, adding your baby’s name, age, or date of birth to the piece. You can either attach a hanger to the back or we can add hanging holes for you to put ribbon through to hang. Plaster Outprints Raised & Framed If you want to see every tiny detail in 3D, our outprints are a great option. We take an initial impression in clay, which we then use as a mould to create a raised plaster cast. The resulting piece showcases a lifelike, raised outprint.capturing all the tiny detail and lines of your baby's hand and foot. Colour Choice : Choose from a white or black background with a wide variety of colour for the hand and foot including classic metallic tones like silver, gold, or bronze. . Making Imprints & Outprints We know that visiting a studio with a newborn or a wiggly toddler can feel daunting. Our team are experienced in working with babies of all ages (from just a few days old!), although we recommend waiting until your baby is at least 4 weeks old. 1. Book Appointment Schedule a convenient time for your session by booking online. Please note we only tend to offer these mid-week during term time when the studio is calmer and we have time after your session to start the making process. 3. Personalise After making the impressions into clay, we'll show you the colour options you can choose from and take your baby's details for the engraved plaque or decoration. 5. Collection Once your personalised keepsake is ready, we will email you to arrange collection. 2. Safe & Gentle Getting the hand and foot impressions in clay is quick and safe for baby. Leave With Us Imprints and outprints take a longer time to process than painted pottery due to the long dry times needed and clay impressions require two kiln firings. Allow 4-5 weeks. We can capture clay impressions or 2D plaster outprints of hand or foot prints at any age but it will depend on the size of the hands and feet as to the number of prints that will fit on a piece. How do I book an appointment for a baby imprint or outprint session? You book a session online through our website. How long does the session take? Getting the imprints is a quick process and just takes a few minutes however allow about 15-20 minutes for us to get the personalisation details. What should I bring to the session? Just bring your baby! We provide all the necessary materials and equipment for the session. How are imprints and outprints made? Our experienced staff will guide you through the process. For imprints and outprints, your baby’s hand or foot is gently pressed into soft clay. For outprints, we use the imprint as a mould to create the outprint after you have left.
