Clay Name Plaque - Kids workshop

It's time for the kids to roll up their sleeves and have a play with clay while creating a personalised name plaque!

One of our Earths, more abundant natural resources, clay is a great medium to experiment and get creative with. Not only is this workshop a lot of fun but it's educational too - sssshhhh don't tell the kids!

The children will learn how to roll, cut and stamp and how to join two pieces of clay together using the renowned slip and score technique. Additionally, they can opt to use cutters to add fun shapes to their creation.

This workshop takes place over two sessions. The first is an instructor-led workshop so drop off your child/children and enjoy some free time while we entertain! After creating their plaque, it will stay with us for 1-2 weeks to dry out before we make it ready to paint by bisque firing it. We will email with a link to book a pottery painting session, at a time to suit, when it is ready for your child to come back and unleash their inner picasso and artistic flair using our speciality underglaze paints to make them fun and colourful! This session is included in the price of the workshop. Your child will need to be accompanied on the painting session unless they are old enough to be unaccompanied. Please note we cannot take any responsibility for unaccompanied children although Crafty Monkey is a safe space.

If you or others who did not attend the workshop wish to do pottery painting at the same time this is possible at an extra cost. Once painted, we need to fire the piece again with a clear glaze so it comes out all vibrant and shiny and will be ready in 7-10 days to take pride of place on your child's bedroom door providing a constant reminder of the fun they had making it!

Suitable for: Beginner level over 8 years old

Time:11am to 12.15pm

What to bring:Everything needed is included. We recommend attendees wear old clothes, although clay and underglaze paints will wash out and feel free to bring their favourite apron.

Cancellation Policy: If you cancel giving at least 7 days notice by email we can give you a credit towards other workshops or activities we offer minus a £2 administrative fee. Tickets are transferable so if you can't attend but have found someone to take your place, please email us with the new details.
