Please contact Sawtry Tea Room directly for further detail. Contact details above. Can I make any substitutions to the afternoon tea menu? The following substitutions can be made: Cheese and Ham sandwich filling, gingerbread man instead of scone and squash instead of a hot drink. Please make it clear in the dietary requirements section when booking if you wish to make substitutions.I'm not keen on the afternoon tea, is it possible to substitute it for something else?If you get in touch with Sawtry Tea Room they may be able to offer you an alternative and if there's a supplement you can pay to them on the day. Do leave a note in the dietary requirements box what has been discussed. How long will I have for pottery painting? The whole session runs from 2.30pm to 5pm. The afternoon tea will be served in the first half hour. It will then be cleared away and table wiped ready for your pottery painting session. Food and pottery do not mix well so it's important to wash or sanitise your hands in between eating and painting to prevent grease from getting on your item. How long will it take me to paint my item? It's difficult to say as will depend on the size of the piece and the design you want to paint onto it. We find most adults will spend between 1.5 -2 hours painting their item. What if I want to paint more than one item? You can order additional items by just adding items from our shop to your order, however, you will only have about 2 hours to paint both pieces. From experience we find most people would only have enough time to paint one piece but if picking small items and painting a simple design then it's possible to paint more than one. When will my item be ready to collect? Please allow around 2-3 weeks for it to be ready and dropped back to the Tea Room, if collecting from our studio then it's likely to be ready much sooner. Can you post our items when ready? We can post out for an extra charge however we cannot take any responsibility for what happens in transit and you cannot insure pottery so it will be the risk you take. We do however wrap items well and get very few breakages but they do occur every now and again. Is this activity child-friendly?Yes, it's suitable for all ages and a fun bonding activity that you can enjoy with your child/ren. However, please be minded that preschoolers and younger children may not have long attention spans and may be finished painting very quickly. If bringing children then you can request a child version of afternoon tea under the dietary requirements on booking. The child version will substitute the hot drink for squash, cheese and ham for the sandwich filling and a gingerbread man instead of a scone. If bringing my child/ren, will I also have to paint? We would encourage you to paint but if you don't want to we can allow one adult per booking to accompany minors. If you also would like to eat you can purchase food and drink directly from the cafe.My friend just wants to come for the afternoon tea and doesn't want to paint pottery. Is that possible? This is a special event and I'm afraid the space is limited so ideally everyone coming needs to partake in the afternoon tea and painting pottery. Exceptions apply to caregivers, people with dependents, etc but are limited to one spectator per booking. You will be able to purchase food and drink at the cafe. Can I bring spectators?See above but you can always check a couple of days before the event on numbers as we will have more of an idea if we can accommodate them.Do you provide aprons? No, Pottery painting is surprisingly unmessy, even for most children and our underglazes wash easily from clothes. However, feel free if you would like to bring one.
